| THE HISTORY
The Hôtel d’Astier de Montfaucon, constructed
in the 17th and 18th centuries, has belonged to Ménerbes town hall
since 1751. It was used as a municipal hospice during the 19th century
and then, until 1953, as a school for boys. After that, its dilapidated
condition meant it was only occasionally used by local voluntary groups
until 1995, when the building was classified as a monument historique
by the Ministry of Culture, which enabled it to be fully restored.
A PLACE OF DISCOVERY
La Maison de la Truffe et du Vin du Luberon opened its doors to the public
in May 2004. It is a centre for understanding the world of truffles and
the wines of the Parc Naturel Regional du Luberon.
The oenothèque (Wine Centre)
The cellars contain an oenothèque which groups together all the
wine producers of the geographical area of the Parc du Luberon —
the appellations AOC Luberon, Ventoux and Pierrevert.
The wines are sold at cellar prices.
An interactive station offers visitors information about wine production
in the Luberon and about truffles in the south east: history, vinification
methods, encepagement, types of truffles and the search techniques (cavage)
and the alliance of wines with food.
The wine laboratory
During the summer, at 18 individual stations equipped with sinks and lighting,
we welcome wine lovers for training, through wine tasting.
The conference centre
In our magnificent reception rooms we host professional conferences. The
rooms can also be rented for private events.
The shop
From 1st April until 31st October, open every day. From 1st November until 31st March, open from 3.00pm to
6.00pm.
In our cellars, the wines of the Côtes du Luberon, Côtes du
Ventoux and Coteaux de Pierrevert can be bought at vineyard prices. We
also sell books on wine, truffles and the Parc du Luberon and non-fiction
books set in the region.
